Expect to be sorely tested to join their ranks, as the Necrolords believe in the survival of the fittest, meaning those who can't excel deserve failure and rejection. They can be ruthless, and value all flavors of strength and power - mental, emotional, and physical. Character: Unrelenting and unyielding, the Necrolords are the military arm of the Shadowlands.Eternal Role: Military guardians of the Shadowlands, protecting it from external forces that wage war on the enemies of Death.Heroic Souls known to exist in Bastion: Uther Lightbringer, murdered by crown prince Arthas Menethil while defending the ashes of his father, King Terenas Menethil II.Those who seek out the Kyrian who aren't yet ready to assume roles to eternal service unburden their souls through meditation and reflection to gain renewed understanding. The Kyrian value humility, righteousness, service, and virtue. Character: Ordered and purposeful, the Kyrian are called to lives of eternal service.
Eternal Role: Angelic Soul Guides, tasked with shuttling souls between the lands of the living and the dead.Here we present an overview of all four Covenants, including the personality and characteristics of each Covenant, and examples of powerful heroes from Azeroth's past who have taken up residence there. Unlike the dead of the Shadowlands, you will have the choice of aligning with a Covenant that appeals to you and your nature. A few souls are deemed so vile, so incapable of atonement for their past deeds, that they are imprisoned in The Maw, a prison for those who have fallen so low that they are incapable of redemption.Īs a powerful hero, you will step into this Afterlife as one who has a foot in the worlds of both the living and the dead.
In that Covenant's realms, these souls work out their burdens, hone their Anima, and take their places among their ranks in eternity.
Souls cross into the Shadowlands to be judged by the Arbiter, who assigns most souls to the care of a Covenant. These groups, called Covenants, each hold their own purpose, responsibilities, and focus, fulfilling crucial roles in the smooth operation of the Afterlife.

In the expanded worlds of Azeroth, the Afterlife exists as a series of countless interconnected realms, controlled by one of four powerful groups: Kyrian, Necrolords, Night Fae, and Venthyr.
In this Shadowlands guide, we provide an overview of all four Covenants, including rewards, as well as a run-down of Covenant specific features like Soulbinds, Transportation Networks, Campaigns, and Renown. You'll be introduced to them through the Shadowlands storyline and at max level, you'll get to join one of them and get access to their rewards, including a class-specific Covenant ability, a Covenant Signature ability, unique transmogs and more! In the Shadowlands, each zone is dominated by one of four Covenants: the Kyrian, Venthyr, Necrolord or Night Fae.
